How does hydro jetting work?

Hydro jetting is a drain cleaning method that uses high-pressure water to clear and scour the inside of your drainage pipes. Instead of punching a hole through a blockage like a drain snake does, hydro jetting cuts through the whole thing and washes it out, leaving the pipe clean to its full diameter. It's the same principle as a water blaster used on a deck, but engineered for the inside of a drainage system.

1. We find the access point.Most Auckland drains can be accessed through a gully trap, inspection chamber or cleanout. The drainlayer locates the right entry and protects the surrounding area before starting.

2. We run a camera first.A drain camera goes in before the jetter to confirm the type of blockage, pipe condition and pipe material. This decides how much pressure we use and which nozzle is right for the job.

3. The jetter does the work.A flexible high-pressure hose feeds into the drain. The nozzle on the end pushes water forward to cut through the blockage and backward to flush debris back out toward the access point. Tree roots are sheared back to the pipe wall. Grease, sediment and waste are washed clear.

4. Camera back through to confirm clear.Once the blockage is gone the camera goes back in and you see the cleared line. Footage is emailed to you within 24 hours along with notes on pipe condition and anything that needs follow-up work.
